To make this 4 Ingredient Hot Chocolate you’ll need the following:
- 1.5 tbsp Dark Cocoa Powder (£0.13)
- 500-600ml Whole Fat Milk (£0.38)
- 2-3 tbsp brown sugar (£0.08)
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract (£0.25)
- whipped cream (optional)
- pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- gelatine-free marshmallows (optional)
- shaved chocolate (optional)

Firstly swap the whole-fat cow milk for plant-based milk such as oat or soy milk. I find this recipe tastes really creamy and delicious with oat milk. Some cocoa powders contain milk so it’s important to check the ingredients for milk powders etc.
How to make a 4 Ingredient Hot Chocolate
- Heat the milk over medium-high heat in a small pot for 2-3 minutes or until lukewarm.
- Next, sprinkle in the cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Put the pot back onto the heat and stir until smooth.
- Continue to stir the hot chocolate over the heat for 5 minutes or until it starts to bubble not boil.
- Pour into 2-3 small cups and serve with whipped cream and marshmallows
