A super Easy French Toast recipe that makes the perfect comfort (but affordable) breakfast idea. PLUS it takes only 3 steps to make! This Easy French Toast has it all. It's delicious, comforting, affordable, and easy. If you've never made french toast using challah bread or brioche please RUN (yes, RUN haha) to your local supermarket or bakery and purchase a loaf of challah bread or brioche. You'll thank me later : )
1Loaf Challah Bread (£2.10) brioche or a thick white loaf can be used
½cupSingle Cream (£0.99/300ml)= (£0.33p)
1Egg (£0.27)
1tspVanilla essence
1tspBrown sugar
1.5tspCinnamon powder
1tspNutmeg powder
pinchSalt optional
Toppings In this recipe I used icing powder, strawberries, blueberries and honey
Instructions
Begin by slicing the bread into thick even slices. Set aside.
In a bowl, whisk the cream, egg, vanilla extract, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together. Soak both sides of the sliced bread for 1-2 minutes.
In a medium heated pan, chuck in a cube of butter or a drizzle of oil. Carefully take the soaked bread out of the bowl and into the heated pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy. Repeat using the other slices.
Serve with your desired toppings and Enjoy : )
Notes
I used the entire loaf because I wanted thick slices, so this recipe serves two. To make more slices of french toast, cut the loaf thinner.
